Seminar
Fundamentals of Mass spectrometry for Biomedical Research
Welcome to Seminar on Fundamentals of Mass spectrometry for Biomedical Research Guide

Seminar Objectives:

Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) is a premier centre for Proteomics and Computational Biology. IOB has also established a state-of-the-art proteomics facility to discover and validate candidate biomarkers in human diseases ranging from various neurological disorders and infectious diseases to cancers.

Scientist at IOB have developed strategies for both online and offline multidimensional chromatography for extensive separation and fractionation of the samples. We have pioneered the use of in vivo labeling strategies such as SILAC, a technology that is currently being used by numerous groups around the world. We are also early adopters of quantitative labeling methodologies such as 18O labeling, iTRAQ and TMT. We have successfully conducted eight workshops on proteomics in last six months. Several faculties and students from reputed Research Institutes and Universities from India have participated in these workshops.

As a part of this 2-day seminar, there will be lecture series by eminent scientists, panel discussion where scientists will discuss their experience and interact with participants followed by demonstration of LTQ-Orbitrap Velos and TSQ Quantum Ultra mass spectrometer. Sample preparation procedures and quantitative proteomic techniques will also be demonstrated.

A certificate of participation will be given to all participants. For group registration of 10 or more students for 2-day event, discount of 10 % will be provided in the registration fee.
