Molecular Biology Laboratory at IOB is involved in genomics and proteomics research. The thrust areas of research are gastrointestinal cancers and neurological disorders. We are using DNA microarrays to study gene expression profile and to explore the possibility of identification and validation of potential biomarkers for the targeted cancers and neurological disorders using Real-Time PCR, immunohistochemistry and tissue microarrays (TMAs). Using CGH arrays, we are studying copy number variations (CNVs) in these diseases. miRNA microarrays will be used to find out potential miRNAs involved in post-transcriptional and post-translational regulation of these cancers.
